Tower Hill Gateway

The Tower of London is a World Heritage Site and one of the country’s most popular attractions, visited by more than 2.5 million people every year. However, the way in which those coming by public transport first arrive at this key landmark leaves much to be desired.

We have produced an Urban Realm and Transport Interchange Framework for TfL covering the area around the Tower of London and creating more legible lines between Tower Hill Underground Station, Tower Gateway DLR Station, Fenchurch Street Railway Station, the river boat pier and a number of busy strategic roads. As part of a bold public realm improvement strategy, we have identified creative yet practical solutions to simplify this strategic transport interchange and heritage site, improve the visitor experience, and, not least, to enhance the setting of an area whose many heritage assets attest to two thousand years of settlement.
