On the site of the original late-19th century Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital a new state of the art outpatients centre has been incorporated into a large development of high-quality apartments in the first of a two-phase development.
The scheme of up to eight storeys includes car and cycle parking at basement level as well as some deep basement areas for plant. In the centre of the development is the original, listed, outpatients hall, which is being built over and around and requires storey-deep steel transfer structures to clear span the hall. We have carried out the structural design for a scheme which is highly complex but will help create a very special development in the heart of Marylebone. The scheme is being developed to BREEAM Ecohomes Standard “Excellent”.
