As a pioneering example of iron and glass construction, Grade I-listed Paddington Station is among the most important railway stations in the world.
Over 20 years our studies have looked at how new rail facilities and development can be integrated with the historic station and at the improvement of vehicle and pedestrian movement. As part of our role advising Crossrail, we looked in detail at the impact it will have on Paddington. For this we produced a Conservation Strategy Report and, as part of the Parliamentary process, assisted in drafting the Heritage Deed. More recently, we have developed a Conservation Strategy and Development Framework with Weston Williamson to guide the station’s development through major changes and consider how further development can be reconciled with its historic significance.
