St Martin in the Fields

St-Martin-in-the-Fields is a parish church of world renown, combining worship, education and social care within one of the nation’s most splendid and influential ecclesiastical buildings. Only five cathedrals have more visitors.

Working with Eric Parry Architects, we have applied a comprehensive range of our skills to one of the most complex and ambitious projects ever undertaken at a parish church, acting as engineers for the restoration of the listed Grade I church, the refurbishment of John Nash’s Parochial Buildings and the construction of a new double basement beneath the church yard between the two, as well as developing movement strategies for the surrounding area and preparing the conservation strategy and the successful Heritage Lottery Fund application for the £34m scheme.

The new basement, entered from a unique load-bearing glass pavilion, provides space for visitors, a new church hall and facilities to support the diverse functions within the church and crypt.
