Crossrail is a major new project that will improve rail links across London, transforming access to central London in particular. The Crossrail link will extend from Heathrow and Maidenhead in the west to Ebbsfleet and Shenfield in the east.

The existing rail network will be used outside central London, with a new tunnel from Paddington station to the Isle of Dogs.

As Built Heritage consultants, we have advised on the effects the works might have on the many listed structures along the route. Potential problems range from settlement caused by tunnelling, to possible damage to structures that are adjacent to areas of “land-take”. Listed structures that fall within these parameters range from the usual – terraced housing and shops – to theatres, railway viaducts and even telephone boxes.
