Selfridges, Oxford Street,

Selfridges’ Oxford Street store is an iconic building which set a new scale for retail development in the early twentieth century. It is also one of the first steel-framed buildings to have been built in Britain, and its construction influenced significant changes in building regulations in the period.

Our work has included a detailed structural engineering appraisal of Selfridges’ various buildings, drawing on a rigorous study of their historical evolution, which has contributed to the development of a long-term strategy for this large and complex site.

We have also been involved in the detail of numerous department fit-out projects which have drawn on our strategic work.
