What we do
At Alan Baxter we employ a holistic approach to our design work and advice, recognising that each project is unique.
Alan Baxter was founded in 1974 as an engineering firm, and this remains central to our identity as a practice today. Over the years we have expanded to provide conservation and urban design services, and our Conservation and Urbanism teams are highly respected in their fields. Our Engineering, Conservation and Urbanism teams work together to find innovative solutions to our clients’ needs, and this interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to our ethos as a practice.
Social and economic sustainability are central to our designs and advice. As a practice we have long-established values of reuse of existing structures, use of high quality new materials and adaptability of our structural designs to future uses. We also have considerable experience in designing places and streets that prioritise sustainable movement.
