The Albany

The Albany

Built in 1760 by architect Sir William Chambers as a private home and then renovated and extended in 1802 by architect Henry Holland as exclusive flats, we were involved in the restoration and refurbishment of nine apartments within this Grade-I listed residential building.

Working with Thomas Croft architects across four apartments, we advised on the likely impact of the design proposals in support of a Planning and Listed building application for the proposed alterations. We identified that the alterations were minor in nature and did not significantly impact the existing structure or the historic fabric of the building.

We then proceeded to undertake a structural appraisal, which included opening up works and site visits to confirm the nature of the existing structure. This allowed us to confirm that the building appeared to be in a good condition for its age and type and that the proposed alterations would not have a significant impact on the overall structure.
