London Fields Lido

London Fields Lido

We have delivered many refurbishment projects of public leisure buildings, including Ironmonger Row Baths and Kentish Town Sports Centre. In addition to our involvement at King's Hall Leisure Centre in Hackney, we advised on repairs to the structure of London Fields Lido, which dates from 1932.

Most recently, we are acting as engineers for the construction of a new teaching pool and splash pad, designed by architects FaulknerBrowns, that will serve as an extension to the lido. The 13 x 7m teaching pool will sit on the site of the former paddling pool, which closed in 2020, and is defined by a timber roof that responds to the pitched and hipped roofs of the original lido. The building will be carefully integrated into the existing facility with a seamless connection to the main 50m outdoor pool. Other interventions include a single-storey new changing block; a new local café and work to open up the existing building for access into the new changing block. We are also leading the Civil Engineering, where we are defining the SUDs strategy.

Councillor Caroline Woodley, Hackney’s cabinet member for family, early years and play, said:
“We've long recognised the impact that sport and physical activity can have on the wellbeing of our residents. Over the last decade we have made really significant improvements in both the quality and operation of our facilities.”
