New Cross Area Framework

New Cross Area Framework

We provided transport and engineering input in a team led by 5th Studio that developed an award-winning framework masterplan for the area around New Cross Gate station in South East London.

The study sets a vision to maximise the benefit of infrastructure investment associated with the Bakerloo line extension. Establishing an evidence base that allows insight into the life of New Cross, its economy and its built environment, it identifies how those can be reinforced and improved through smaller projects. The study will be used to inform the Lewisham Local Plan and the design of new Bakerloo line infrastructure.

Our work focused on understanding existing transport and movement patterns in the area, identifying opportunities for station and public realm upgrades, for reconfiguring the A2 highway corridor to better cater for walking, cycling and bus access, and for unlocking access for potential development sites.
