Talacre Community Sports Centre

Talacre Community Sports Centre

We were structural engineers for the expansion and refurbishment of an existing leisure centre in response to increased demand.

Partly-funded by the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, the project sought to create an upgraded centre that is sustainable, multi-purpose, and accessible for everyone and was developed to align with current Sports England guidance.

The work - which improved energy performance and aided the long-term viability of the centre - included adding an additional 100m2 gymnastics floor space; a new 115m2 multi-purpose exercise studio with views out to Talacre Green; a new multi-use space for a variety of functions; a flexible classroom space with a moveable wall; bringing improved access to the park; adding accessible toilets for users of the centre and Talacre Town Green and upgrading the changing rooms, reception area and cafe facilities.

Accessibility was a major part of the brief. We helped create a new level-threshold park-side entrance, improved lift and stairwell, and wheelchair storage, with upgraded changing provision, including ambulant facilities.
