BSc MICE MIStructE CARE

Senior Associate

David joined the firm in 1984 and brings over 35 years of structural and civil engineering experience to his work, having consulted on some of the nation’s most prestigious, sensitive and vulnerable buildings.

David is a Conservation Accredited (CARE) engineer and has extensive experience assessing and refurbishing historic buildings. His most significant projects include advising on sensitive alterations and additions to Southwark Cathedral (Grade I) and Borough Market (Grade II), as well Castle Howard (Grade I), the British Museum (Grade I), and listed Government buildings in Whitehall.

He has achieved repute for his work on historic churches, and has been continuously re-appointed to assess structural defects and improvement works at a number of historic City of London Churches including St Stephen Walbrook (Grade I listed) and St Mary Abchurch (Grade I listed).

In his capacity as a CARE engineer and NEC Supervisor, David has assisted our work at the Palace of Westminster, ensuring quality control, health and safety and best practice is upheld. Recently, David has been assisting the Design Authority with the development of structural engineering standards that will be adopted for all projects on the Estate. These standards have been developed to reflect the high standards demanded when working on such iconic buildings.

Elsewhere, he has developed a specialism in consulting on the impact of buildings from major transport infrastructure projects across London, such as his evidence as a heritage expert witness at an inquiry into the impact on ten listed buildings surrounding Bank Station.
