Senior Professional

Steven works in our movement and transport engineering team while also making contributions to our urban design group.

Steven’s hallmark is his holistic approach, being accustomed to both transport planning and urban design. He uses this combination to flesh out and dovetail sustainable and integrated mobility and development proposals. This necessitates detailed spatial and temporal coordination, future-proofing and interdisciplinary collaboration which complement Steven’s skillset.

He brings an international outlook to the team, having gained planning experience in Belgium, Switzerland and the Seychelles. He draws on this experience as an inspiration that he applies to a diverse portfolio of work including masterplans, brownfield development, urban streetscapes, and planning procedures. His projects have included transport strategies and assessments, public realm improvements and strategies, travel plans, delivery and servicing plans, pedestrian and cycle infrastructure design, highway works, design coding, visioning, masterplanning, space planning and site analysis.

Besides this thematic breadth, Steven’s work spans a broad range of scales from district-wide movement networks on the macro level down to the joint widths between kerbs on the micro level. Consequently, he’s taken projects from early strategic thinking through planning and on to construction at RIBA Stage which allows him to anticipate and mitigate potential issues early on while also carrying the initial intent and ambition of a design through to execution. He is also well versed in various methods and approaches including public consultation, stakeholder engagement, facilitation and design workshops.

Steven’s work and designs focus particularly on sustainable transport and movement, transforming public spaces to enable a step-change in how people experience and interact with their surroundings.
