Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine - Health School
Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine - Health School
This £6.2m health school forms part of the Rivermead Phase B development to the west of the river Chelmer in the centre of Chelmsford. The five-storey building is curved in plan and is based on a radial structural grid. The structural form was dictated by thermal mass, acoustics and integration of services to achieve a low energy building.
The building provides simulated clinical environments intended to enable students to have the opportunity to gain ‘hands-on’ experience in a variety of acute and community settings. Internally, four mock hospital wards are located alongside an intensive care setting, a radiography suite and a classroom where people can learn and improve their face-to-face communication skills.
