We provided Heritage advice for the conversion of the Grade II listed Metropolitan Arcade building (1912) to become a high-quality food and drink from local, independent food traders and restaurant operators including 16 kitchen units, two internal bars and a mezzanine with 266 internal seating covers.

The building is located close to Liverpool Street station, served by a range of rail services, four Tube lines, London Overground and the forthcoming Elizabeth line. The proposals involved the creation of an all-day social dining experience including food, drink and events all under one roof.

We advised on the reuse and transformation of the Metropolitan Arcade - a site built in the Victoria era which originally served as the entrance to Liverpool Street Station.

The project also upheld TfL’s strategy to support small and medium sized businesses and provide an improved range of food and beverage options to those who visit, work or pass through Liverpool Street every day.
