Canada House

Canada House

The Grade II* Canada House on Trafalgar Square was designed by Sir Robert Smirke, and was built for two different users in 1822-27. Our client, effectively the Government of Canada, took over both leases in 1925, making Canada House the diplomatic home of Canada.

By 2013, as diplomatic functions expanded and technology evolved, Canada House did not celebrate the best of Canada and could not accommodate all the required staff. We acted as structural engineers for a series of works, beginning with a structural analysis of the Mackenzie Room in 2018. We then advised on the extensive restoration of the Macdonald Room and High Commissioner’s Offices, which was completed in 2020.
