We were the structural engineers for a high-end refurbishment of this house within the Holland Park conservation area that included the creation of a new basement below the existing building and the majority of the garden while the entire superstructure was remodelled retaining only the front façade, roof and select pieces of internal structure.
The formation of the basement was particularly complex due to variable ground conditions which included a drop in the clay/gravel boundary of around 7m over a very short run, and a high water table.
