Kingston Leisure Centre
Kingston Leisure Centre
We supported the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames’ ‘Transform Kingston’ plans to revitalise the historic town centre for local residents, businesses, students and visitors.
The first part of this programme was the delivery of a community leisure facility on the site of the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, where we collaborated with Faulkner Browns architects and latterly Roberts Limbrick on a design that is accessible for all residents. The scheme - which received planning approval in February 2025 - comprises will create the range of activities that our communities said they wanted to see, in a sustainably designed building that will be home to a 25m x 8 lane swimming pool, a training and teaching pool, a new health suite, gym, cycling and activity studios, sports hall, squash courts, soft play area and cafe.
Accessibility and inclusivity are also key features of the project. The project will create new pedestrian links into the town centre, next to a range of landscaped public spaces throughout the scheme, as well as a new and improved play area.
We acted as Heritage consultants for the plans, which were in a prominent position and adjacent to the Grade-II Listed Kingston Public Library, Museum And Art Gallery.
