St. Paul's Cathedral - Views and Setting Study
St. Paul's Cathedral - Views and Setting Study
In partnership with Historic England and the Dean of St Paul's, we contributed to a new analysis of the setting of St Paul's Cathedral. The study was authored by Nigel Barker-Mills and overseen by Caroe Architecture. Our editorial role built on insights from our period as consulting engineers to the Cathedral, our experience advising on other buildings in the City and at other cathedrals.
The Cathedral is a Grade I listed building of exceptional architectural and historic significance, which was conceived by Sir Christopher Wren to crown the London skyline. This aspect of its design is fundamental to its purpose and significance. For the first time, the Setting Study describes and analyses the setting of the Cathedral and how this contributes to its heritage significance, to equip participants in the planning system with high quality evidence and greater certainty in planning for change.
