University of Greenwich - King William Court
Our structural engineers are engaged in a rolling programme of works and improvements to this magnificent building, built as part of the Royal Greenwich Hospital, now occupied by the University of Greenwich’s Maritime Campus, and a World Heritage Site.
Construction of this section of the Grade I complex began in 1698 under the direction of Sir Christopher Wren, though Vanbrugh is now believed to be the architect of the west façade illustrated here. The building comprises four monumental wings, with the recently restored Painted Hall, completed in 1703, occupying the north range . Our work is concentrated on the other three wings. Initially, we are undertaking a comprehensive condition report. This assessment will then inform the scope and design development of refurbishment works for the University, which will include new lecture theatres and other teaching spaces.
