Hope is a conservation adviser with expertise in twentieth-century architecture, listed buildings, historic structures, conservation areas and development in complex heritage settings.
She has assessed heritage significance and the impact of proposed works across cultural, commercial, healthcare, transport and ecclesiastical sites. She has extensive experience in advising on the sensitive refurbishment of museum and gallery spaces to improve display, access and environmental performance. She combines rigorous research, clear writing and heritage judgement.
Her experience includes advising on the refurbishment of museum and gallery spaces, balancing improved display, accessibility and environmental performance with the conservation of significant fabric. At the Grade II listed Savoy, Hope researched alterations dating from 1889 and helped establish the relative significance of its event spaces and riverside entrance. She has also provided heritage support for the refurbishment and combination of retail units within Oxford Circus Underground Station.
Hope has also contributed to heritage advice for new hospitality facilities on a Berkshire racecourse and prepared a heritage statement for works affecting a Grade II listed Tudor wall within Chelsea’s Cheyne Conservation Area. Her project experience includes advising on redevelopment proposals for the Outpatients Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.
At Derby Cathedral, she undertook archival research and contributed to an assessment of the building’s spiritual, communal, architectural and archaeological significance, encompassing its medieval tower, Gibbs nave and twentieth-century extension.
