Luca Frasca
Ing.
Director
Luca joined us in 2000 and today directs much of our work for the Whitehall Estate.
He is a structural and civil engineer with a broad experience of refurbishment and new construction both in the UK and Italy. He leads diverse projects across existing and new-builds which involve a variety of repairs and alterations.
His work has included alterations to buildings within the Whitehall Estate which required strict confidentiality and security protocols, whilst responding to an ambition to upgrade sensitive spaces with new technology and access.
Other significant schemes include proposals for the transformation of the Grade II listed Whitechapel Bell Foundry in East London, which comprised the conversion of listed buildings to artist studios, shared workspace and a small foundry with exhibition space.
Outside of London, he has led the team delivering the design of Units 3 and 5 within the transformation of a former railway carriage works and he has also prepared an appraisal of the structural condition of the Mechanics Institute. He will soon commence working on the appraisal of the structure of the Bristol Street Tunnel.
Most recently, Luca has led the engineering for the refurbishment to the ground and lower-ground floors at the Grade I listed British Academy on Carlton Terrace. This will create new event and exhibition spaces and improve accessibility. At Sturt’s Yard in Hackney, Luca is advising on a £85 million mixed-used redevelopment of a light industrial site in Hackney, London. The site lies over a designated Crossrail 2 route and is heavily constrained by several buried infrastructures and a Thames Water trunk sewer that cuts across the site. The proposals comprise four new seven-storey reinforced concrete.
