Luca Frasca

Ing.

Director

Luca is a structural and civil engineer with 25 years of broad experience of refurbishment and new construction both in the UK and Italy.

Luca leads diverse projects across existing and new-builds which involve a variety of repairs and alterations. He has particular expertise working on cultural projects and most recently has led the engineering for the extensive refurbishment to the ground and lower-ground floors at the Grade I listed British Academy on Carlton Terrace, which created new event and exhibition spaces and improved accessibility for a renowned, public-facing institution.

Other significant cultural projects include proposals for the transformation of the Grade II listed Whitechapel Bell Foundry in East London, which comprised the conversion of listed buildings to artist studios, shared workspace and a small foundry with exhibition space. He also advised on a wide-ranging study for potential new, cultural and public uses for the Grade II* listed market buildings at Smithfield Market.

He has worked on behalf of museum and galleries nationwide, including creating an enclosed events space beneath a striking, structural, diagrid timber roof that resulted in increased visitor numbers and works to the main vestibule entrance at the National Gallery, which has involved temporary structures to enable large, heavy art objects to be moved without impacting public access.

Outside of London, he has led the team delivering the design of Units 3 and 5 within the transformation of a former railway carriage works and he has also prepared an appraisal of the structural condition of the Mechanics Institute. He will soon commence working on the appraisal of the structure of the Bristol Street Tunnel.
