Since joining us in 2015, Megan has worked on a wide range of structural engineering projects with a focus on the restoration and adaptation of historic structures.
Megan currently works within our Parliamentary Estates team. Her recent work on the Estate includes the design repairs to the medieval hammer beam timber roof of Westminster Hall, which required advising on a scaffolding deck structure that could be retracted at short notice. She has also advised on investigations and repairs to St Mary Undercroft Chapel and the major refurbishment of Millbank House. As with all areas within the Parliamentary Estate, this work needed to be undertaken whilst allowing constant access for MPs and members of the public.
As well as her input on the Parliamentary Estate, Megan’s work has included the design of alterations and repairs to the Grade II listed St John’s Waterloo Church and St Paul’s Cathedral in London, which have ensured these large and historically significant buildings can remain open and accessible for the public and serve as spaces for secure events.
Nationwide, she has advised on alterations to the west wing of Castle Howard, analysis of a bridge on the Heritage at Risk Register within the Lambton Estate near Durham and repairs to the Grand Bridge at Blenheim Palace, which have required an understanding of buildings set within complex and historic landscapes and estates.
She has developed a specialism for advising on cultural and artistic spaces, and regularly advises Tate Britain on engineering works required to install large exhibits. This work builds on our contribution to the £45m upgrade to the building’s principle entrance and rotunda, completed in 2013.
