Professional

Orla joined us in 2023 as a graduate from the University of Leeds. She has worked on a wide range of projects that involve the refurbishment and assessment of historic buildings, whilst her work on new-build projects includes the energy centres, university buildings and museums.

A particular focus of her work is on refurbishment and upgrading historic civic and public-sector buildings to meet the needs of visitors and curators today. She also has extensive experience with complex, live sites, both new and existing.

Much of Orla’s work has been focused at the University of Greenwich, where she has supported the university on several refurbishments and feasibility studies. For our work at the Grade II listed Devonport House, Orla has supported our early design work through an approach of carefully set-out investigations to the former nurse’s home, which has informed proposal for essential structural repairs. New, sensitive intervention to the existing building will accommodate new services with the new three storey extension lightly touching the exterior walls.

She has also worked on a range of exciting and unique projects such as a hut owned by British Antarctic Survey on Horseshoe Island, giving her an appreciation of historic construction techniques which has informed her proposals for projects with complex structural history.
