Finchley Central Town Centre

Finchley Central Town Centre

Finchley Central Town Centre is a high street regeneration project in the London Borough of Barnet. Principally oriented around Ballards Lane, north of vicinity of Finchley Central Underground Station, there are several key objectives to the project. These include establishing a new market, creating a new centre for the community, and improving the economic, social and environmental environment within the town centre.

A range of highway and public realm improvements were proposed in order to support this. These included carriageway realignments, increased pavement widths, improved pedestrian crossings, improved bus stop locations, the relocation of parking, improved servicing provision, the pedestrianisation of a local street, and substantial new tree planting and SUDs features.

We provided transport services and civil engineering for the project. Our work included baseline transport analysis, a healthy streets assessment, trip redistribution work and junction modelling, a parking relocation strategy, swept path analysis, and the detailed design of bus stop layouts, highway alterations, raingardens, drainage alterations and hard landscaping civils.
