Lowndes Square Houses

We first worked as structural engineers at a property in Lowndes Square to convert the former Pakistan Embassy into flats.

In the 2000s, we worked with John Simpson Architects on a scheme to convert two 19th-century six-storey houses into a single 25,000 ft² house. The proposals included the construction of a three-storey basement to provide room for plant, a swimming pool and staff quarters. The front wall onto Lowndes Square was to be retained for planning reasons, increasing the complexity of an already challenging engineering project. A roof garden was also to be created on top of the main house.

In the late 2010s, we worked with architects 1508 London to refurbish these two houses as high-quality apartments. The project involved the demolition, construction and internal fit out of high quality residential accommodation for both houses and mews buildings with a new eight-storey reinforced-concrete framed building, including a car lift and two levels of basement, all behind a retained (and underpinned) front façade, entrance porticos and pavement vaults. The scheme provided eight luxury apartments over seven floors.
