Peckham Rye Station

Peckham Rye Station

We are providing movement, conservation and structural engineering advice to transform the area around Peckham Rye station. The Grade II listed station building is currently hidden by a 1930s shopping centre, and the rail arches are vacant or serve light industrial use. Although a key transport node that fronts onto a busy high street, the area around the station is tired and in urgent need of improvement.

At the heart of the scheme is the demolition of the shopping centre and creation of a new public square framed by the station building, with the currently underused arches newly revived with active uses. This is complemented by residential and other commercial development, and is set to transform the overall quality of the area.

We developed detailed proposals for the main station square and adjacent buildings with Landolt and Brown for London Borough of Southwark. This includes major alterations to one of the 1930’s buildings on Blenheim Grove, where the old station platform-end forms part of the existing building creating a complicated interface.

Phase 1, which involves the construction of a new retail and entrance building to the south of the railway line completed in 2023. Phase 2 will involve the creation of the new public square and additional retail units within the railway arches.
