St. Petersburgh Place House
St. Petersburgh Mews House
We supported proposals to create a new ancillary mews building by infilling a vacant rear garden plot within this Mews in Westminster.
The work also included external alterations to the main house which were concentrated at the rear, where it was proposed to add a small extension at basement level.
The main house is a late nineteenth-century house that made a positive contribution to the Bayswater Conservation Area.
The key heritage consideration for the planning application was the design of the proposed mews building. We worked with the architects to ensure that the proposed new mews building would be high quality in its design and use of materials and that it would add visual interest. We also ensured it would create a seamless transition between the neighbouring taller buildings.
We argued that having reviewed the character of this part of the conservation area, the proposals would preserve and enhance the conservation area’s special character.
The proposals were granted planning permission in 2021.
