Shoreditch Pedestrian Study

Shoreditch Pedestrian Study

Following our work with Allies and Morrison on the Future Shoreditch Area Action Plan, we undertook a detailed pedestrian movement analysis for this historic and diverse area on the edge of the City of London.

This study involved the analysis of pedestrian surveys, and the development of a detailed pedestrian model that layered spatial connectivity networks with land uses, transport interchanges and footfall counts. This provided the Council with a nuanced understanding of current pedestrian movements at different times of day and for different user groups. The analysis was used to identify key journeys through the area for a variety of different purposes, activity nodes with a variety of characters, as well as activity corridors and alternative routes. This enabled the Council to more carefully target public realm investments throughout the area.
