Garduate Engineer
Lily joined us from the University of Bath, where she studied Civil and Architectural Engineering.
Lily supports our work in understanding building construction, structural behaviour and the process of investigating and adapting existing buildings. Her experience includes assessing existing structures and preparing drawings for significant projects, with recent work at the Grade II listed Warwick House in London and 18–20 George Street in Richmond.
At Warwick House, Lily has been working on the assessment of the condition and load-bearing capacity of an existing stone balcony. The project involved understanding a historic structure formed from stone slabs supported by cast iron brackets, with a later extension supported by steel beams. Her assessment considered the effects of cracking in the stonework, damage around balustrade fixings and corrosion of the steel supports, alongside the influence of previous alterations to the building.
At 18-20 George Street, Lily has completed a number of design thinking drawings to review the existing timber hipped roof structure at the front of the building, which is currently propped. Following this, she carried out further design drawings to show how the load paths, restraint against thrust, stability and robustness are to be improved for the proposed case.
Most recently, she has contributed to our advice on a Grade II listed Georgian house on Arbour Square, Stepney.
