Professional

Sulakna is a structural engineer with a keen interest in architecture and the restoration of historic buildings.

Since joining us from the University of Edinburgh, she has supported our work on Arts and Culture centres of national importance. This has included undertaking historic ironwork appraisals at the Natural History Museum to inform proposed exhibition designs, and various projects at the National Gallery. Most notably, she is working on the refurbishment of Galleries 30 & 31, which involves upgrades to the roof envelope and integration of a complex scheme of new services.

Sulakna is currently working on the Grade II* listed 34 Portland Place, a spacious Georgian townhouse that will be comprehensively refurbished to create new accommodation and office space. This has involved a methodical approach to understanding the existing structure to allow sensitive repairs and alterations to be designed.

Outside of London, she has supported our ongoing input at a large private estate in Wiltshire. This has involved designing timber repairs on the Grade I listed main house, and the design of a new maintenance building on the estate.
